Waiting and waiting...

Well, as I approach my due date I'm becoming more and more antsy.  I don't like this time.  I'm uncomfortable and ready, but neither my body (nor the baby) is "ready" according to my check up yesterday.  So here is a little update on us while I wait...impatiently.
For Halloween Bret convinced Maggie to be a zombie ballarina.  I thought she looked great and was quite surprised she said yes.  Landon was a crayon which was SO cute (we inherited the body of the costume from my mom) and Kade was a monster (another costume from my mom).
For Thanksgiving we went to our cousins house!!  We had so much fun and ate tons of yummy food.  We are so thankful they are so close to us.

This is Bret's artistic skills in action-the only action they've seen for a while. :)

Don't I look like I'm so happy to have such a huge belly on me?

One sad sad thing is that our wonderful neighbors have just moved to the next town.  Landon loves his friend and she is SO good to him.  Kade also is loosing her brother as a backyard friend.  Luckily the place they are moving is only about 15 min. away.  But we will miss them dearly in our backyard.

Kade and Maggie took a soccer class.  Kade LOVED it and was all for it.  Maggie liked it fine, but was more interested in making friends and playing with them.  It was funny to watch.

Poor little Landy-boy was too little to be in the class but loved the time after the class when he could "play" soccer.  Next year he will be old enough.

That's about it.  We were hoping this baby would be a 12-12-12 baby, but that's not happening anymore.  Mostly Bret and his dad will be dissapointed about that one.  They both kept talking about it.

Kade turned 6

Kade turned 6 last month.  We played a few games and had a lot of fun.  Our cousins were able to come and he also invited some friends from the neighborhood.  Kade was pretty spoiled and loved it.

Here are a few things that Kade said in the past while that I want to remember
5-26-2012 While Kade is looking through a “think-geek” catalogue:
I want to save up my money for all these super hero things, ‘cause I want to be a super hero when I grow up, these don’t have super hero powers, but I really want them.
(Date??)  Why does ‘o’ say ‘ow’ sometimes, is it just the people who made it up wanted to trick people, or they wanted to trick kids?
I love Kade, he is a very sweet and tenderhearted boy.  He is very aware of the people around him which can be a little intimidating to him but also can bring out his kindess.   I can't believe he is 6!

Bret is at a conference (again) this week and so I decided to do a post.  He has had 2 conferences on back to back weeks.  We have see him a little in between though.  Last week he was in Pittsburgh and this week he is in Florida.  I will be happy when it's all over.

This is his last semester of course work and I couldn't be happier about that.  Then we will have a baby (boy) and after that he will start preparing to take his qualifying exams in the spring.  After that he will begin his dissertation. It has been some trip to get to this point and will still be crazy to get to the next point.  It's been amazing seeing him grow so much in so many ways through it all.  I am very proud of him and love who he is.

Anyway, here are a few snip-its of what we have been doing lately:

Bret and Kade went on a Father-Son outing.  Kade LOVED LOVED LOVED it.  He cried when they had to come home.  It's kind of funny because there was a HUGE rain storm that night that kept most people up all night and got a lot of people wet.  I couldn't believe they were out there when I looked outside from our snug little house.  I couldn't even see very far because the rain was so intense. Kade and Bret stayed warm, dry and comfortable though.
We saw this cute little mantis while sitting at the kitchen table one day.

Kade started Kindergarten at home this year.  He is a really good student so far.  Both of us (for the most part) are having a lot of fun learning together. He makes it pretty easy although he definitely has his days of making me want to pull my hair out.  It's quite different being on the "teacher" end of the stick!

Landon and Maggie have been doing pretty good too. They are good at entertaining themselves.  Maggie does a little reading and preschool workbooks, and Landon loves to color at the table with us.

I forgot to check the photos I took of Bret on his "1st day of school" so they all happened to be blurry, oh well, I still wanted to post one.
We are involved with a home school group and for a field trip we went to an apple orchard.  We have been here before and love it every time.  They had lots to do.  This barn has the coolest slide.  We also went on a wagon ride, got some yummy apples, had a tour of the kitchens and received an apple cake bar and some apple cider, explored a mini maze, and fed their petting zoo animals.  It was really fun.  We went with our friends in out ward who are also homeschooling.

It started to rain just as we got done with everything.

Mar-Mar and Wade

My sister Maren got married to Wade mid-september and Bret and I were able to go.  We left our kids with my sister in law and her family near Indianapolis, which was so nice.

Maren and Wade were sealed for time and all eternity in the Rexburg ID temple.  Bret is really busy this semester so he stayed for their sealing and then flew back the next day.  I stayed for the reception in MT and went back Sunday.  I am so glad that I could go.  It was wonderful.

The Happy Couple
My family minus Levi and our kids.
The sisters and sister-in-laws
My immediate family minus Levi on his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in PA.

A little veiw of the reception.  It was pretty decked out. My mom had a lot of fun I think.
I'm so happy for Maren and Wade and so grateful they have each other.  I'm so thankful for family and our Heavenly Father's wonderful plan of happiness for us.   Being there at their wedding made me think about my testimony of the gospel and how thankful I am for it.  I also was reminded of how much I love my own kids and husband.  Sometimes I take them for granted or I get tired of their behaviors or just the trials of day to day life.  But reminders like these help me to put life into perspective and remember my love for those around me.

Summer Recap Post

I am so late on this, but I'm posting it anyway.  Life is too busy and this blog is not a priority.  I was in the mood to update tonight so I thought I would jump on that.  This was some of our Summer:
 Stopped by Mt. Rushmore
Stopped at "Wal-drug"

In MT, using the field as a driving range

Boating at Gates of the Mountains-SO SO Beautiful

Yet another birthday while on vacation-the big 30!
The kids LOVED Aunt Mar-Mar and (new) Uncle Wade

We went to the family cabin

Grandpa's funny hat.  I think Kade would make quite a cute girl :)
We went to OR this year for 2 reunions.  We stopped by where Bret grew up and also his little brother's gravesite.
This was Bret's eagle scout project
Linford Family Reunion.  We had a sand castle contest.
Kade decided to do some super cool moves for the camera.

Newport lighthouse

We saw some pretty cool tidepools

Swensen Family Reunion

We went crabbing

And clamming, both crabbing and clamming were really fun.

Landon and Asher.  I think they look a lot alike.

We ran into some of Bret's cousins while on a lake near his parents house and had some fun with them and their water toys.  For some reason we didn't pull out the camera as much while in ID.
We loved the Oregon coast, it was so fun and so hard to leave.  We loved ID and MT as well.  It was hard to come back and start life up again.  But it's good at the same time.  I will have to do another update soon on what we have been doing since being home.
